Reed
Tall tapered blades rise from the bottom of the panel, each one a little different in height and lean, so the panel reads as a stand of reeds from across the yard and as sculpture up close. Only the blades are cut away, so it keeps the most steel of the five patterns: the most privacy, and the stiffest panel at any size.

- Cuts clean the first time: ribs never under ¾″, one piece of steel, no islands

- The file is yours to keep. Cut it as many times as you like
Three files, one panel, ready for the machine.
Everything is in inches and every contour is closed, so it loads straight into LightBurn, Fusion, SheetCam or a plasma table’s own software with nothing to clean up.
- DXF (R12)Cut lines on layer CUT, the mounting holes on layer HOLES. The format every CAM reads.
- SVGThe same contours as hairline strokes, for LightBurn, Inkscape and the Glowforge/xTool crowd.
- Proof sheet (PDF)The panel drawn at scale with its code, size, weight, open area and the rules it was checked against.
- Your libraryFiles live in your plan library, so a lost download is never a problem. Change the size later: the file is regenerated.

14ga steel. Cut-to-order prices are per panel with textured black powder coat and parcel shipping in the lower 48, shipped flat in 2–3 weeks; custom sizes are $29 as a file and quoted cut. Ribs never thinner than 0.75″ at any size.
The Privacy Screen.
Reed is drawn for a freestanding cedar screen at a patio edge or beside a hot tub. The frame is an Easy Build cedar plan from the Yard collection: 4x4 posts and 2x4 rails from Home Depot, the panel captured between 1x2 stops on both faces. No dado, no exact fit; the frame can be a quarter inch off and the panel still reads clean.
Order the panels cut from a frame plan’s page and the plan is included with them. The Privacy Screen plan is coming to the Yard collection. In the meantime Reed fits the Dapple Pergola’s canopy and screens at 30 × 60, and any frame with an OL bay opening.
Good to know
Which size should I buy?
The three standard sizes are the OL bay: every panel-ready frame plan is drawn around them, so a standard panel moves between projects. Pick custom when you are fitting an opening you already have, and measure the opening, not the frame: the panel wants a quarter inch of play on each side.
Does the file change when I change the size?
Yes, and that is the point. The pattern is generated for the size you pick: the border stays 2 inches, the ribs stay over 0.75 inch, the holes land in the border. A scaled drawing would thin the ribs and move the holes into the pattern.
What does the serial mean?
Reed is generated from a seed, so no two panels repeat. The serial is that seed, printed in the file name and on the proof sheet. “Draw another one” makes a new panel at the same size; the one you buy is exactly the one you saw.
What do I get when I order it cut?
A 14-gauge steel panel, laser cut in Texas, powder coated in textured black on both sides, with the mounting holes drilled and the corners rounded, shipped flat in a padded box. Standard sizes ship parcel in 2–3 weeks from the day we confirm the price. Bigger panels are crated and go by freight, quoted first.
Should I buy the file or the panel?
If you have a plasma table or a fiber laser, the file: it is the same file the shop cuts from. If you don’t, the panel. Cutting one panel at a local shop means a setup fee, a sheet minimum and a powder coater’s minimum, and the quote usually lands above our price; we nest panels dozens to a sheet at trade rates and coat them in batches. Buy the file first if you like, price it around, and the panel is here when you come back.
Can I paint it?
Powder coat takes paint well: scuff it, prime with a bonding primer and use an exterior enamel. Most people leave it black against cedar.
