Laser-cut steel panels for the frames you build.
Five patterns, cut from 14-gauge steel in Texas, powder coated and shipped flat; or the cut file, if you have a laser or plasma table of your own. Every one is drawn for a cedar frame you build from Home Depot lumber: the panel is the part you can’t make at home, so we make it.
- Cut to order, powder coated, ships flat in 2–3 weeks
- Any size to 48 × 96, re-flowed, never stretched
- Or the file: DXF + SVG + proof sheet, instant download
The panel, the file, or the panels with their frame plan.
- The panel, cut to order · from $289We cut it, you bolt it. 14ga steel cut in Texas, textured black powder coat both sides, mounting holes drilled, shipped flat in 2–3 weeks. Ask for it from any pattern page; the price and date are confirmed by email before anything is charged.
- The cut file · $15Cut it yourself. DXF and SVG in inches for any laser or plasma table, instant download; custom sizes $29. Personal use, as many cuts as you like. Pricing it at a local shop? Most people find one shop quote costs more than our panel, and come back for it.
- Panels + the frame plan · plan includedEach pattern is drawn for a Yard frame plan: pergola, privacy screen, fence insert, wall trellis, garden gate. Order the panels cut from the plan’s page and the plan comes with them. The Dapple Pergola takes any of the five now; the Privacy Screen is next.
Three standard sizes. Any frame, any pattern.
Every panel-ready frame plan is drawn around the same three openings, so a panel moves between projects: the Reed you bought for the screen fits the gate later. All three ship parcel in a flat box. Bigger and custom sizes are cut too; they go by freight, quoted first.
Cut-to-order prices are per panel, delivered in the lower 48, shipped flat in 2–3 weeks, with the 14ga weight range across the five patterns. 0.075″ steel; 12 and 16 gauge on request. The file is $15 at any of the three.

The Beacon. A steel sleeve for the landscape light you already own.
Four laser-cut panels tab together into a square, a foot at the bottom of each takes one spike or screw, and the cap locks on with a turn. Your 12-volt up-light sits inside and lights the pattern from below: no wiring, no fixture to buy. Three sizes (6 × 18, 6 × 24, 8 × 30), the same five patterns as the panels.
- The kit from $189, flat in a box in 2–3 weeks
- Or the cut files, all three sizes, $15
Drawn by a generator that knows the rules.
A pattern file that was scaled in a drawing program breaks: ribs get thin, islands fall out, holes land in the pattern. Ours are generated for the size you pick, and every one is checked against the same rules before it leaves. The shop cuts from the same file you can buy.
- 2″ solid border, ½″ corner radius; the pattern stops short of it.
- Ribs never thinner than 0.75″: safe on a fiber laser or a plasma table.
- Every void is a closed contour. The steel stays one piece: no islands, nothing to bridge by hand.
- 5/16″ mounting holes 1½″ in from each corner, mid-side holes on panels over 48″ tall.
- Open area capped at 60%, so a 14ga panel stays flat with no bent returns. The cedar frame carries the stiffness.
- DXF (R12) with CUT and HOLES layers, SVG with hairline strokes, and a proof sheet at scale.
Good to know
Why not take the file to a local shop?
You can, and if you own a plasma table or a fiber laser the file is the right buy. For one panel, though, a shop charges a setup fee, a minimum on the sheet and a powder coater’s minimum on top, and the quote usually lands above our cut-to-order price. We nest panels dozens to a sheet in Texas at trade rates, coat them in batches and ship flat, which is why the panel price sits right next to the file on every pattern page.
Is sales tax included?
No. Prices on the site are before tax; sales tax is added at checkout where we are required to collect it, from the shipping address for a panel and the billing address for a file or a plan.
How long does a cut panel take?
Standard sizes ship flat in 2–3 weeks from the day the price is confirmed, parcel, delivered in the lower 48. Custom sizes that go by freight are quoted with their own date. You’ll get the tracking number by email.
What steel, and will it rust?
Cut-to-order panels are 14-gauge mild steel, powder coated in textured black on both sides, the same finish as commercial metal screens. The coat is rated for outdoor use; the cut edges are coated too. If you want the rust look, ask for raw steel in the quote and it will weather to a warm brown in a season.
Which machines cut the files?
Any fiber laser or CNC plasma table that takes a DXF or SVG: a Langmuir CrossFire, a shop fiber laser, a waterjet. The ribs are wide enough for plasma kerf, and every contour is closed. A CO2 laser can cut the same file in wood or acrylic.
How does a panel mount in a frame?
The frame plans capture the panel between 1×2 cedar stops screwed to both faces of a 2×4 frame: no dado, no exact fit, a quarter inch of play. The 5/16″ holes are the backup, for screwing a panel straight to a frame or a post.
Why are Reed and Stone numbered?
They are generated from a seed, so no two panels repeat. Each one carries a serial, printed in the file name and on the proof sheet, and the panel you buy is exactly the one you saw drawn.
Can I sell panels I cut from a file?
No. The $15 and $29 files are a personal-use license, written into the file and the proof sheet: cut as many as you like for your own projects, not for sale as panels or as a file. A shop license for fab and sign shops is coming; ask us if you need one sooner.
